When a carpenter moves from a small town in Galilee to the city of Jerusalem he is conscripted by the Romans to make their crosses, those cruel instruments of torture and death. This has dire consequences for both him and his family. Shunned by his countrymen he feels trapped, and there seems to be no way out. Then Jesus, a man he has known from birth and watched as he grew up, comes to Jerusalem for the Passover.
